Virtual Black History Workshop

$500.00

BRONDIHOUSE produces impactful and meaningful opportunities for students, educators, and organizations to learn about foundational Black History. Reviewing centuries of culture, economy, science, and influence specifically rooted in West Africa–the region from which the vast majority of African Americans originate, BRONDIHOUSE challenges and expands on what is traditionally taught, that Black history started in slavery, and instead, provides a more comprehensive and inclusive perception of Black history and its legacy of greatness.

BRONDIHOUSE BLACK HISTORY PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Black History Month Presentations

Target Audience: Schools + Organizations

Virtual one-hour, all school/organization interactive, workshops focusing on the pre-colonial West African Civilizations: The Ghana Empire and The Mali Empire. Participants will learn about early West African Civilizations, and its long-lasting impact on human history, continuing to today. In the presentation on West African civilizations, we will discuss West Africa's economies (gold and salt), the culture (griots and matrilineal society), and highlight the academic powerhouse, Timbuktu, and its impact on world civilization. Workshop attendees will gain a greater understanding of West Africa, and the lasting cultural, economic and scientific contributions of West African civilizations.

Packages start at $400 for a 60 minute presentation.

Educator Training: How to Teach Black History Month

Target Audience: Educators + Organizations

Most children are first exposed to Black history through the lens of slavery. It is traditionally taught as the starting point of Black history. However, before contact with Europeans, Black Africans enjoyed thousands of years of sophisticated civilizations of their own. Unfortunately, most teachers, of all races and ethnicities, don’t have the tools to effectively teach about African civilizations. This training and its curriculum offers educators the tools to: 1) Learn why Black History should never be taught by starting with slavery 2) Explore the history of pre-colonial African Civilizations 3) Create tangible activities that celebrate Black History

Two and a half hour individual educator training and curriculum $99

Three hour school wide/organization teacher training: one training and curriculum for up to 20 participants $1500

Custom School/Organization packages

Available starting at $500.00
